What do you know about agroforestry?
Agroforestry is a farming technique that involves growing crops in the shade of large trees. Examples of such crops include yams, ginger, turmeric, cassava, taro, lemongrass, and pineapple.
These crops are not only easy to grow, but they also help maintain soil moisture, reduce heat stress on plants, and support biodiversity. Farmers in the tropical climate of Battambang, Cambodia, can benefit from planting these crops either in their fields or at the foot of the mountains.
Acknowledging the potential for generating additional income for farmers and enhancing their livelihoods, our team from the Sustainable Soil for Life Association (SSLA) took proactive steps by sharing essential knowledge and donating agroforestry seeds/plantations to our farmers from the Por indigenous community, located at Phnom Rai village, Ta Tok commune, Samlot district, Battambang province.
