The Sustainable Soil for Life Association co-organized the 2026 Consumer Meeting Day in Svay Rieng City, Svay Rieng Province. The event was attended by 149 participants, 75 of whom were women, from various institutions that are members of the Cambodian Agroecology Network ALiSEA. SSLA exhibited its knowledge products and led its target farmers to exhibit a number of agroecological products.
Consumer Meeting Day
is a program designed to strengthen consumer awareness of safe agricultural products through agroecological practices, bridge the gap between producers and consumers, and strengthen understanding of the differences between safe products or agricultural products produced through agroecological practices.
Main objectives
– Promote the use and increase the value of agroecological products among consumers.
– Strengthen communication and networking between consumers and producers.
– Provide a platform for members to showcase good practices and innovations in the field of agroecology.
Key Activities
– Product Exhibition (Public): Promote and display safe agricultural products from ALISEA members and partner farmers, with a total of 31 booths.
– Learning Forum: Share experiences to openly disseminate relevant knowledge and experiences with consumers. There are presentation forums on various topics such as the implementation of organic standards presented by Khmer Organic, the implementation of Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) by representatives of GRET technicians, the implementation of agroecology to produce products using agricultural inputs on farms, and sharing practical experiences by representatives of the project coordinators of SSLA.
– Study visits to good practice sites: Visits to selected agroecology farms, demonstrating production techniques, discussions with farmers on the challenges and benefits.
The impact of “Consumer Day”
Consumers are not just buyers or eaters, but are key players in a safe food system, who can set the direction of production, driving improvements in food quality and safety at every stage of the supply chain. Your small, everyday choices that support and choose safe agricultural products are a major driving force in encouraging producers to practice safe, responsible production that takes into account human health and environmental protection, in order to promote the development of agroecology and sustainable food systems.
